Gas South District celebrates opening of new parking deck

DULUTH, Ga. (September 19, 2019) – An official ribbon cutting for Gas South District’s new 2,400 space parking deck was held today. County officials, venue and community partners, and County leaders were invited to attend the ribbon cutting. GCVB Chief Operating Officer Stan Hall was on hand to lead the cutting of the celebratory ribbon. Wakefield Beasley & Associates acted as the architect for the project and Brasfield & Gorrie was the general contractor. Construction of the deck began in June 2018 and marks the first completed project of the Gas South District master plan for expansion.

“The deck will provide ample parking to meet the demands of the expanding campus and increasing number of events,” said General Manager Joseph Dennis. “We are excited that this project is the first step in enhancing the overall guest experience.”

The deck can be entered from both the Sugarloaf Parkway and Satellite Boulevard entrances. The central location of the deck will make it easily accessible to and from the Arena, the Forum, and the Theater.

While there is no fee to use the deck initially, plans include implementing a paid parking structure in the future. Gas South District will be partnering with LAZ Parking to utilize their knowledge and experience managing deck operations.

Construction on a second parking deck is already underway with completion slated for December. Additional plans for the campus include construction of Revel, an entertainment district by North American Properties and a Westin Hotel by Concord Hospitality.
